Why do Teeth Darken?
The vast majority of the time, teeth darken due to stains on the enamel. Your enamel is the outer, shiny layer on your teeth that protects them from bacteria and decay. The most common causes of these stains are:

Almost any food can leave imperceptible stains behind that build up over years and decades. Since we all have to eat, there is pretty much no way to avoid at least some degree of tooth darkening.
